In a recent statement, a leading Taiwanese diplomat stated that the United States is working to build a network of allies in response to China’s expanding global influence. The diplomat, Kurt Campbell emphasized that this initiative aims to counteract what many view as China’s increasing assertiveness on the world stage.
According to Kurt Campbell, who is the U.S. Indo-Pacific Coordinator, the U.S. is actively strengthening ties with nations across various regions to form a united front. This includes enhancing military partnerships, fostering economic cooperation, and bolstering diplomatic engagements. The goal is to create a coalition capable of addressing and mitigating the challenges posed by China’s ambitious global policies, which many see as a threat to regional stability and international norms.
Kurt Campbell’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and China, marked by disputes over trade, technology, and territorial claims in the South China Sea. The Biden administration has underscored its commitment to reinforcing alliances, notably through recent agreements with key partners such as Japan, South Korea, and Australia, as well as strengthening ties with NATO allies.
