Stock market news : Tencent and Semiconductor Manufacturing Lead Trading Activity

Today’s most actively traded stocks in Hong Kong included major technology and semiconductor companies. Tencent Holdings Limited (700) was the most traded stock, despite dropping -2.80% to 502.5 HKD, as investors responded to regulatory concerns in China’s digital economy. Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (981) gained +0.74% to 54.60 HKD, reflecting strong investor interest in China’s semiconductor sector amid global supply chain disruptions.

Xiaomi Corporation (1810), a leading consumer electronics giant, saw a trading surge, closing at 51.20 HKD with a -0.97% decline, as smartphone demand concerns weighed on its performance. Meituan (3690), a major e-commerce and food delivery company, recorded a gain of +1.29% to 165.0 HKD, showing resilience in the online services sector.

Kuaishou Technology (1024), a video-sharing and social media company, suffered a steep loss of -5.74% to 55.05 HKD, as investors worried about its advertising revenue and competition with TikTok’s dominance in the market. Wuxi Biologics (2269), a biotech and pharmaceutical company, plunged -9.04% to 23.65 HKD, marking one of the worst performances among high-volume stocks, as global biotech stocks faced selling pressure.
