Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will visit China from July 27 to 31, invited by Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, announced on Thursday that Meloni’s visit would include meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as discussions with Premier Li and top legislator Zhao Leji. These talks are expected to focus on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.
The spokesperson noted that China and Italy, as comprehensive strategic partners, have maintained close high-level interactions and achieved substantive results in various fields of cooperation. It was mentioned that the steady development of China-Italy relations serves the common interests of both nations and promotes exchanges and mutual learning between their civilizations.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership, Mao expressed hope that the visit would be an opportunity to consolidate traditional friendship, enhance understanding and trust, and deepen practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. The visit is seen as a means to facilitate the steady and lasting development of China-Italy and China-Europe relations, contributing to world peace, stability, and prosperity.
