Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with a delegation from the US-China Business Council (USCBC) to discuss China’s policy stance towards the United States. The meeting, which took place shortly after the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, underscored China’s commitment to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.
Wang emphasized the necessity of safeguarding China’s “bottom line” in fostering bilateral relations and encouraged USCBC members to actively contribute to the healthy development of these ties.
The USCBC delegation was the first American business group to visit China following the recent CPC session. Analysts noted that the visit highlights the deeply intertwined nature of economic relations and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
They suggested that economic and trade relations could serve as a stabilizing factor amid the uncertainties of the upcoming US presidential election, Washington’s crackdown on Chinese industries, and other geopolitical challenges.
Welcoming the US business representatives, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, described the visit as timely. He remarked that it provided USCBC members with an opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of China’s new atmosphere of comprehensive reforms following the third plenary session.
Wang elaborated on the significant measures adopted in the session’s resolution to advance Chinese modernization, particularly through high-level opening-up. Notable USCBC members, including board chair Rajesh Subramaniam and president Craig Allen, attended the meeting.
Wang reiterated China’s consistent policy towards the US, emphasizing stability and continuity while upholding China’s interests and principles. He urged the USCBC to foster a correct understanding of China in the US, address obstacles to people-to-people exchanges, and promote the stable and healthy development of China-US relations.
