Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun urged international collaboration for global peace and stability during his keynote address at the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum on Friday. Addressing delegates, he highlighted the need for mutual respect and sincere cooperation among nations, underscoring the forum’s theme, “Promoting Peace for a Shared Future.”

Dong emphasised that the world is undergoing significant changes and called on countries to show mutual respect, seek common ground while preserving differences, and engage in win-win cooperation. He suggested that such an approach would help nations work together towards lasting peaceful coexistence.

Dong advocated for a multipolar world characterised by equality and order, stressing the importance of inclusivity and shared efforts to address global challenges. He called on countries to promote a security environment that benefits all parties, urging them to be open to new partnerships and security models that foster global harmony.

Highlighting China’s commitment to global security, Dong stated that the Chinese armed forces would continue to implement the Global Security Initiative. He expressed readiness to build new security partnerships with military forces worldwide, aiming to contribute to a more peaceful and stable international order.

The Beijing Xiangshan Forum, attended by over 1,800 guests from more than 100 countries and international organisations, serves as a significant platform for dialogue on global security issues. The forum seeks to enhance mutual understanding and trust among nations, providing a space for open discussions on defence and security matters.

China’s call for unity at the forum comes amid growing global tensions, with Dong’s remarks reflecting the country’s stance on fostering cooperation over conflict. The Chinese government’s emphasis on dialogue and joint efforts aims to reshape international relations in a time marked by geopolitical shifts.

The event marks another step in China’s efforts to assert its role in global security, inviting nations to collaborate on building a peaceful and shared future.
