The 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened its third plenary session in Beijing from July 15 to 18, 2024, to discuss significant national and international issues. The session’s key topics included the advancement of green energy industries and a shift towards quality-focused economic development.
Thierry Laurent, chairman of the Climate Change Working Group under the French Foreign Trade Advisors China Committee, expressed support for China’s direction during an interview with China News Network.
He emphasized that China’s rapid development in green energy is advantageous not only for the nation but also for the global community. According to Laurent, the session highlighted China’s commitment to fostering sustainable energy solutions, a move that aligns with international efforts to combat climate change.
Laurent observed that China’s current economic strategy prioritizes quality over quantity, a shift that aims to enhance the country’s global standing.
He elaborated on the concept of “new quality productive forces,” which refers to innovative and efficient production methods designed to bolster economic growth while minimizing environmental impact. This approach, he noted, is expected to improve China’s image worldwide by showcasing its dedication to sustainable and high-quality development.
