China urges Japan to reconsider diplomatic stance amid rising tensions

According to a statement released by China’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Liu pointed out numerous fallacies and dangerous trends in the meeting documents, accusing Japan of spreading false narratives about China.

Liu Jinsong, the Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs at China’s Foreign Ministry, recently met with a chief minister at the Japanese Embassy in China to express strong dissatisfaction with Japan’s recent diplomatic stance. Liu addressed concerns about Japan’s negative comments and actions during several significant meetings, including the Japan-U.S. diplomatic security “2+2” meeting, the Extended Deterrence Ministerial Meeting, and the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting.

According to a statement released by China’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Liu pointed out numerous fallacies and dangerous trends in the meeting documents, accusing Japan of spreading false narratives about China. He argued that these smear attacks contradict the efforts to advance a strategic, mutually beneficial relationship between China and Japan. Liu urged Japan to develop an objective and rational understanding of China, stressing the importance of maintaining the political foundation of bilateral relations and genuinely implementing their strategic partnership.

The statement also highlighted Liu’s discontent with comments made by the United States and Japan regarding China’s actions in the South and East China Seas, its military exercises with Russia, and its expanding nuclear arsenal. Liu called on Japan to stop making irresponsible remarks about China’s internal affairs, emphasizing the need for respect and mutual understanding in diplomatic relations.

China’s Foreign Ministry reiterated Liu’s concerns, noting the potential harm Japan’s stance could cause to the bilateral relationship. The ministry emphasized China’s desire to sustain a stable and constructive relationship with Japan and urged Tokyo to avoid actions that could undermine trust and cooperation.
