On Monday, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson reaffirmed China’s respect for Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity concerning the Kosovo issue. This statement follows recent tensions in the Kosovo region.
According to reports, Kosovo police recently conducted a forceful raid on institutions of ethnic Serbs in northern Kosovo. During these operations, four Serbs were arrested, and Serbian currency was seized from the National Bank of Serbia situated in the area. This escalation has further strained the already tense situation in the region.
The Chinese spokesperson commented on these developments, stating that unilateral actions such as these do not contribute to resolving the issue but rather exacerbate regional instability. The spokesperson emphasised that such moves disrupt security and stability, making the situation more challenging for all involved parties.
The Chinese government has urged that all relevant parties engage in practical and constructive dialogue to seek a lasting resolution to the Kosovo issue. The spokesperson’s remarks underline China’s position on the necessity of negotiation and cooperation over unilateral actions to address the ongoing conflict effectively.
As the situation in Kosovo continues to evolve, the international community watches closely, hoping for a peaceful and constructive resolution to the disputes affecting the region.
