Turkmenistan has witnessed a substantial and consistent increase in the annual import of transport means from Germany since 2018, encompassing vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and related transport equipment, according to sources at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. Notably, the import figures for 2023 reveal a remarkable surge, exceeding the volumes of any single year in the past five years.
In the latest available data, Turkmenistan’s import of transport means from Germany in 2022 reached a significant high of 58.78 million euros, marking a fourfold increase compared to the 2018 figure of 12.98 million euros. This surge underscores the strengthening economic ties between Turkmenistan and Germany, signalling a growing reliance on German expertise and quality in the transport sector.
The cumulative imports of transport means from Germany to Turkmenistan between 2018 and 2022 amounted to approximately 170.88 million euros. The noteworthy surge in 2022 not only stands out as the highest volume within this period but also sets the stage for continued growth in subsequent years.
Surpassing expectations, the import trend witnessed an even more substantial increase in the first eleven months of 2023, with Turkmenistan importing transport means from Germany totalling 65.88 million euros. This not only surpasses the total for any single year in the five-year period but also reflects a burgeoning demand for German transport solutions in Turkmenistan’s evolving economic landscape.
