Asian markets: Nikkei 225 dips 0.80% as trading begins on 13th December

Nikkei 225, Japan’s leading stock index, commenced trading on 13th December with a subdued tone, reflecting cautious market sentiment. Opening at 39,624.05 JPY, the index recorded a slight decline of 316.98 points or 0.80%, settling at 39,532.09 JPY by 10:13 am.

The day’s early trading range was observed between 39,484.44 JPY and 39,734.99 JPY. This comes after the previous session closed at 39,849.07 JPY. While the index reflects a minor setback in the short term, it retains positive momentum on broader timelines, showing gains of 0.50% over the last five days and 0.54% in the past month.

In the year-to-date performance, Nikkei 225 has surged by an impressive 19.09%, further solidifying its 19.67% growth over the past year.
