Adani Group-owned Ambuja Cements Limited has announced a major investment in Bihar, marking the largest commitment by a cement industry player in the state. On August 3, the company unveiled plans to establish a cement grinding unit in Warisaliganj.
This new facility, known as the Warisaliganj Cement Grinding Unit, will have a total capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and will be implemented in three phases. The first phase, which will include a capacity of 2.4 MTPA and an investment of ₹1,100 crore, is slated to commence by December 2025. The project will also include provisions for future expansion at a significantly lower capital expenditure (CapEx).
Situated in Mosama village, Tehsil Warisaliganj, District Nawada, Bihar, the site boasts excellent connectivity, with Warisaliganj railway station only 1 km away and State Highway 83 just 500 meters from the location. The plant aims to meet the growing infrastructure needs of the state, aligning with the priorities outlined in the recent Union Budget.
Ambuja Cements’ announcement comes at a time when the company’s shares closed at ₹650.85 on August 2, down by 1.97%. The investment is anticipated to greatly enhance Bihar’s infrastructure, adding around ₹250 crore to the state’s annual fiscal revenue and generating 250 direct jobs along with 1,000 indirect employment opportunities.
During the foundation stone-laying ceremony hosted by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar commended the investment. He highlighted that the investment underscores Bihar’s growth potential and the Adani Group’s commitment to sustainable development in the region.
Pranav Adani, Managing Director (Agro, Oil & Gas) and Director of Adani Enterprises Limited emphasized that the investment aligns with the state government’s development goals and the company’s growth plans. He noted the healthy volume growth in the cement industry driven by government infrastructure initiatives and expressed confidence in Ambuja Cements’ role in supporting sustainable development across India.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, as well as Industry Minister Nitish Mishra.
