China aims to enhance communication, promote cooperation, and foster the steady development of its relations with Japan and South Korea. This initiative will be pursued through bilateral dialogues scheduled for July 21 to 25, announced Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian at a press briefing on Friday.
Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu will represent China in these talks, meeting with Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Masataka Okano in Tokyo for the 16th round of China-Japan strategic dialogue. Additionally, Ma will engage in the 10th round of high-level strategic dialogue with ROK Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong-kyun in Seoul.
These dialogues represent institutionalized arrangements for consultations between China and Japan, as well as China and South Korea. The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations, international issues, and regional concerns of mutual interest.
“The specific arrangements for these meetings are still under discussion between the parties,” Lin noted. “However, both sides are committed to engaging in in-depth exchanges on key issues.”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that such dialogues are crucial for maintaining and advancing sound and steady relations with Japan and South Korea. The meetings aim to address common interests and concerns, reinforcing diplomatic ties amid evolving geopolitical landscapes.
Spokesperson Lin assured that relevant information from these meetings will be disseminated promptly to keep the public informed. This initiative underscores China’s commitment to active diplomacy and its role in fostering regional stability and cooperation.
