The first ODI in Ranchi has rewritten the record books.
The combined total of 681 runs is now the highest match-aggregate ever recorded in an India vs South Africa ODI, surpassing the previous best of 662 runs scored in the 2015 Wankhede decider.
This match also produced 28 sixes — the most in any ODI between the two teams, breaking the earlier record of 25 sixes from the same 2015 Mumbai clash.
India scored 349/8, while South Africa replied with 332, creating a new all-time high for this bilateral rivalry.
