AIA Group Limited has announced that Mr. Edmund Sze-Wing Tse, its Independent Non-executive Chairman and Director, will retire effective 30 September 2025, after a distinguished career spanning more than six decades with the Group.

Sir Mark Tucker, former Group Chief Executive and President of AIA from 2010 to 2017, has been appointed as Independent Non-executive Chairman and Director, subject to regulatory approval. His appointment, effective 1 October 2025, will also see him assume the roles of Chairman of the Nomination Committee and member of the Remuneration Committee.

Sir Mark, who brings over 40 years of global financial services experience—including recent leadership as Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc—will conclude his term at HSBC on 30 September 2025.

Reflecting on his tenure, Mr. Tse said, “It has been the greatest honour of my professional life to serve AIA. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished and have full confidence in Mark’s leadership going forward.”

Acknowledging Mr. Tse’s legacy, AIA Group CEO and President Lee Yuan Siong praised his transformational impact on AIA, noting, “Edmund’s vision shaped AIA into Asia’s leading life insurer. His legacy will continue to inspire us.” In recognition of his unparalleled service, the Board has unanimously conferred upon Mr. Tse the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus.

Welcoming Sir Mark back to AIA, Mr. Lee added, “Mark laid the foundations for our success during the IPO and has continued to build a globally respected profile in the industry. We are excited to have him lead our Board into the future.”
