Volvo is gearing up to expand its EV lineup with the highly anticipated ES90 electric sedan. Scheduled for a global debut on March 5, 2025, the ES90 will be the electric counterpart of the popular S90 sedan. With the unveiling just weeks away, Volvo has teased key details, hinting at an innovative and performance-driven luxury EV.

Here’s what to expect in Volvo ES90

The Volvo ES90 is a full-size sedan with a 4,995 mm length, 1,945 mm width, and 1,547 mm height, ensuring ample cabin space. Its impressive 3,102 mm wheelbase promises enhanced stability and comfort. It remains unclear whether the ES90 will replace or complement the ICE-powered S90, but its size and advanced tech position it as a flagship model.

Underpinning the ES90 is the SPA2 platform, the same architecture as the EX90 SUV, reinforcing its next-gen safety and computing capabilities. Volvo states that this is its most powerful car ever, referring to its computing power rather than horsepower. The ES90 utilizes NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin, capable of a staggering 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS). This technology supports AI-powered active safety features, real-time sensor data processing, and superior battery management.

Volvo remains at the forefront of safety innovation, equipping the ES90 with cutting-edge ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The sedan features 12 ultrasonic sensors, 8 cameras, 5 radars, and a high-tech LiDAR system, ensuring optimal performance even in low-light conditions. Additionally, its driver understanding system enhances on-road safety.

While full technical specs remain under wraps, reports confirm that the ES90 will house a 111 kWh battery pack, delivering an estimated 600+ km range under Chinese test cycles. Buyers can expect dual-motor AWD for optimal performance, alongside a more affordable single-motor RWD variant.
