Solo Leveling has had two successful anime seasons. Season 1 (12 episodes) aired in early 2024, and Season 2 (“Arise from the Shadow”) aired later in 2024 (13 episodes). A-1 Pictures’ stunning animation adapted the webtoon’s early arcs, following weak hunter Sung Jinwoo as he gains a system to level up infinitely in a world of hunters and dungeons. Season 3 is still anticipated but is currently experiencing production difficulties.

Solo Leveling Season 3 Release Date Speculations

As of January 2026, neither Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, Crunchyroll, nor the production committee had formally announced or confirmed Solo Leveling Season 3. Despite the anime’s tremendous popularity over its two seasons, there isn’t yet a production schedule, trailer, key visual, or greenlight.

Online rumors that suggested release dates of mid-2025 or late-2026, as well as assertions of a studio switch to MAPPA, have been refuted or linked to unreliable sources. Notably, fans had been keeping a careful eye on key industry events like Jump Festa 2025 and Aniplex Online Fest, but no Season 3 announcement was made.

Producers’ remarks suggest that the enormity of the animation effort for Season 2 necessitated a considerable amount of recuperation time. If Season 3 is allowed, 2027 or later is the most feasible window because some employees have publicly suggested that a longer break would be better for the team. Additionally, there is rising conjecture that the franchise’s next project would be an anime film rather than a full season, with a potential release date of late 2026, though this has not been verified.

Season 3 is not currently under active production, but it is also not canceled.

Solo Leveling Season 3 Expected Cast

No casting announcements have been made because Season 3 has not been confirmed. The main voice cast is expected to return, though, if the anime makes a comeback.

In addition to the well-known voices behind Cha Hae-in, Jin-woo’s relatives, and significant hunters from previous arcs, this would include Taito Ban as Sung Jin-woo (with Aleks Le making a comeback for the English version). New voice actors would be needed for strong foreign hunters and adversaries in future plots, thus increasing the cast size.

When production resumes, casting continuity is very possible due to the popularity of the franchise.

Solo Leveling Season 3 Potential Plot

If approved, Solo Leveling Season 3 would go into the series’ most lore-rich and high-stakes arcs, going beyond the Jeju Island plot. The narrative would follow Sung Jin-woo as he completely enters the international arena, evolving from Korea’s most formidable hunter to a man feared everywhere.

Possible storylines include Jin-woo starting his own guild, learning more about the enigmatic System, and facing strong international forces associated with the Monarchs and Rulers. The scope would significantly increase, bringing in expert hunters from other nations and intensifying wars that endanger humankind as a whole.

Future episodes may go deeper into Jin-woo’s moral and emotional issues, possibly using anime-original scenes to develop supporting characters and world-building, according to prior hints from the producers. Season 3 would represent the shift from elite dungeon fights to full-scale worldwide warfare if it were faithfully reproduced.
